Astara Legacy: Two Hearts, Two Fates.
BeginAuthor's Note
Astara Legacy Project
Adenesa Chronicles is my debut as a fantasy author, starting with the first book: Astara Legacy. The project started in 2014 as a world-building exercise and slowly grew into a full story. It's been rewritten more than once, shifted around on timelines, and eventually landed on Cassandra and Miridon - fated twins who have a profound impact on the world.

World Building
The World of Adenesa
I will share more here once I have discussed what is safe to share without spoiling everything!
Aronia
Capital city of Adenesa, seat of the Emperor and home to the Arcanum
Kalista, City of Rifters
Tall spires and a ruthless reputation, Kalista is the central princedom of Adenesa
Law of the Land
Laws are not equal, People are not equal. For the benefit of the many, we uplift the few.
Pael'mer
The realm of the Mer, shrouded in mystery from the Empire and its denizens
Magic System
Aethermancy of Adenesa
Magic in Adenesa flows from the Planar Veil, a barrier separating the mortal world from the raw energy of the divine planes. Those who can perceive these threads are called Aethermancers, and they're governed by the Arcanum of Aronia. Each Aethermancer is attuned to one elemental domain - fire, water, earth, or air - and casts by weaving precise sequences of symbols. Some are also attuned to a metaphysical domain: Time, Death, Life, or the Astral.
Dar'Qwen
Flamedancers, drawing on Qwen's fire from the Primal Elemental plane. They're easy to spot - their hair comes in ginger and burnt-black, two-toned.
Irn'Kor
Earthbinders, attuned to Kor and the element of Earth. They tend toward a heavyset build and thick brunette hair that doesn't much cooperate.
Vyl'sin
Stormcallers, attuned to Vyl and the element of Air. Quick and hard to predict, they're usually lithe with long blonde hair.
Nin'wa
Tidecallers working with Nin's waters in all their forms. Usually light-haired with sharp features and blue eyes.
Mender
Healers, bound to Hyldri and the domain of Life. At higher tiers they develop heterochromatic eyes and silver or white-metallic hair.
Seer
Attuned to Syl and the Astral plane, Seers deal in visions and foresight. The Order of Seers works within the Arcanum, handling prophecy across Adenesa.
Miz'Zarn
Timebenders, bound to Zarn and the domain of Time. Rare, and very much wanted by the Arcanum. Like other metaphysical types, they have silver hair and mismatched eyes.
Touched
The Asheborn, bound to Ashe and the domain of Death. Feared and often misunderstood, they show the silver hair and mismatched eyes from the moment they first awaken.
How It Works
Aethermancers cast using Spellthreads: structured sequences of symbols for power, effect, motion, and target. Every spell has to be built the same way, every time - there are no shortcuts. A caster's stamina resource, Aesence, caps how much they can cast before needing rest, and their Planar Links determine how many threads they can hold at once. That link count is what defines their tier. The Arcanum recognises five: Adept, Arcanist, Weaver, Luminary, and at the top, Umbral.
There's also a second, older form: Sorcery. Unlike Aethermancy, Sorcerers cast by pure will, with no symbols and no tier limits. The cost is Empathic Feedback - every spell that touches a living being sends its emotional resonance back to the caster. It's a weight that tends to change people.

A Note on AI
AI has been a sore subject for me personally, and it put me off writing for many years. My writing, storyboarding, character design, and world-building are entirely my own, with years of documented versioning that predates AI. That said, AI integration into tools and media has made it largely unavoidable - I do use it for spelling, grammar, and similar writing aids, as well as for website coding and concept art. I don't plan to include any AI-generated material in anything commercial, and I've been talking with real artists about cover art and other key images.
